Eskom suspended the rolling blackouts on Sunday evening, after generation reserves adequately recovered.
On Saturday, the 4th of December the ailing power utility, implemented Stage 2 load shedding, which was meant to have lasted until this morning at 05h00.
But instead, it was suspended at around 21h00 last night
It is anticipating to return to service approximately 4 100MW of generation capacity tonight.
While the Kendal ash plant has returned to full operation, unfortunately, the station has suffered failures of two generating units.
Additional, several breakdowns have occurred at Kriel, Komati and Arnotpower stations.
Eskom spokesperson is Sikhonathi Mantshantsha.
“While loadshedding has been suspended for now, Eskom appeals to all South Africans to continue using electricity sparingly and to switch off non-essential items. We will communicate promptly should there be any significant changes to the power system”.
