South Africa’s covid19 death toll has surpassed the 500 mark.
A total of 53 people have died from the pandemic across the country in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 524.
Health Minister, Dr Zweli Mkhize said the number of infections has increased to 24,624.
However, a number of recoveries stand at 12, 741.
This indicates that there’re 11,359 active cases in the country.
The Western Cape which remains the epicentre of the pandemic, has the total of 7,622 active cases.
