South Africa has recorded 235 more Covid-19 related deaths on Monday, bringing the death toll to 44,399.
The Western Cape had the majority of the deaths, with 64.
It’s followed by the Eastern Cape with 59, Gauteng 51, North West 33, the Free State 16, Kwa-Zulu Natal 10, and the Northern Cape 2.
The Health Department says 2 548 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed over the 24 hour period, the lowest since December 2020.
This brings the country’s cumulative tally to 1 456 309.
The number of people who have recovered from the virus, stand at 1 306 022, representing a recovery rate of 89%.
Meanwhile the Western Cape has 12, 994 active cases and 10,303 people have died.
