What’s cooking this week in Jenny’s Kitchen…



  • 2 Cups of Self- raising flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 250 ml Milk
  • 250 ml  Sparkling Water
  • 1.5 cup of Oil


  1. Beat 2 eggs, 250ml of milk, 250ml of  sparkling water, 1.5 cup of oil and  2 cups of self-raising flour in a bowl.
  2. Rest the mixture for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a non- stick frying pan.
  4. Ladle a little batter into the frying pan.
  5. Cook the batter for about 2 minutes on each side, until you see the top covered with little bubbles.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 until you have cooked all the batter.

Now let’s fill these with some sweet or savoury fillings. Here are a few fillings to try out!

Something Savoury

  • Pulled pork or pulled chicken with slaw, spinach, feta and BBQ mayo.
  • Snoek Pate, gherkins and salad leaves.
  • Smoked trout, beetroot, rocket and cream cheese.
  • Avocado cream cheese, sticky rice, feta, chilli and Japanese mayo.

Something Sweet

  • Ricotta cheese, caramelised apples, and honey coated with mixed seeds.
  • Berry coulis, thick greek yoghurt and toasted almond flakes.
  • Milk tart custard, honey and cinnamon.
  • Cream cheese frosting coated with toasted mixed nuts.
  • Nutella and raspberries.
