Blood stock levels in the Western Cape are declining and we need your help. During the Easter period our blood stocks decline as our donors take a well-deserved break over the public holidays. Ramadan is set to start during April, which will also add pressure to the blood stock levels as our Muslim donors can’t donate during the fast.

“The Western Cape Blood Service (WCBS) would like to encourage all eligible donors from all blood groups to be eggstraordinary, by donating blood and saving up to 3 lives”, says Marike Gevers, Public Relations Manager at WCBS. “Although we are experiencing a decline in all blood groups, currently there is a critical shortage in O- and B+ blood groups as we only have a 2-day supply in these respective blood groups”, Gevers added.

If you are between the ages of 16 and 75, weigh 50kg or more, are healthy on the day of donation, lead a safe sexual lifestyle and would like to save three lives in just 30 minutes, you should be able to donate. To find your closest blood donation clinic please download the app on Android and iOS, send us a WhatsApp on 060 549 7244 or visit our website on www.wcbs.org.za for more information.

Be eggstraordinary this April, donate blood.
