In February the Angolan dance troupe Fenómenos do Semba created the viral Jerusalema Dance Challenge video that showed off their dance moves to the South African hit song Jerusalema.
The video is where a bunch of people break into a group dance, while eating lunch from plates in their hands. We love it! During the breakout of coronavirus, the Jerusalema Dance Challenge went viral on social media across the world, literally over night. It was on everyones lips and people from various countries started to do the challenge too and posts were flying across social media. From police stations to priests, everyone was taking part.
The 2020 MTV EMAs honoured some of the biggest names in global music this year. South African musician and “Jerusalema” hitmaker Master KG took home top honours’ to win the coveted Best African Act. In an acceptance speech he said
“I would love to thank my sister Nomcebo, my team Open Mic Productions, and everyone who has supported Master KG, thank you so much. To all my fans all over the world, without you this would have not been possible.”
