After a bit of an absence, rolling blackouts are back with us again.
Eskom announced on Sunday that Stage 2 power cuts are now in effect until Tuesday at 22h00.
The power utility says this is due to a loss in generation power at seven power stations over the past 36 hours.
The last time Eskom implemented load shedding was on the 10th of March.
The City of Cape Town says it will keep their customers on stage one on Monday.
Eskom’s Sikhonathi Mantshantsha said, “This represents a total loss of 6 044MW over this 24 hour period, bringing the total unplanned capacity lost to 16 118MW. Planned maintenance is 4 171MW. We urge the public to help us by reducing consumption while Eskom teams are working around the clock to restore as many of these units to service as soon as possible”.
