The number of Covid19 related deaths in South Africa is now in excess of a 1,000.
A total of 1,080 people died in the country as a result of the coronavirus.
The Health Ministry says 82 people succumbed to the outbreak in the past 24 hours
The Western Cape recorded 55 deaths, the Eastern Cape with 26 and KwaZulu Natal with one.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the confirmed cases have increased to 50, 879, but 26, 099 people have recovered.
This indicates that there are 33, 700 active cases in the country.
The department says nearly 900,000 tests have been done so far
