The Western Cape Social Development Department is pleased that a new NGO has been appointed to run Old Aged Homes on the Cape Flats.
I-hata Shelter for Abused Women and Children is expected to run the homes in Bishop Lavis, Bonteheuwel and Heideveld.
Last week, the Cape Peninsula Organization for the Aged and I-hata, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
This move could see I-hata take over from CPOA.
The process is expected to be concluded by October this year.
The department says it will continue to monitor the process, and support the two organisations where necessary.
