Western Cape Health MEC Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, has conceded that she can’t say for sure when the majority of people in the province will be vaccinated.
She was engaging with farm activists in Stellenbosch, last week.
As of Friday, the 26th of March 38 699 healthcare workers both in the public and private sectors have been inoculated in the Western Cape.
More than 44,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine have been delivered to the province.
Farm activists told the MEC that they should be included in committees set up for the vaccine rollout.
The Western Cape plans to start with Phase 2 in April, but that depends on the availability of doses.
Mbombo says she understands the frustrations, but they wait on national government.
“ We still don’t have vaccine programme, but we do have a plan as the Western Cape Government. All out sites are available. The only question I’m being asked everywhere is when we will get the vaccine”.
