The City of Cape Town has issued fines to 21 homeless people in Observatory.

Metro cops visited the group of people, who are living outside the old  Arcadia Place care home, on Tuesday.

The City’s Richard Bosman says the homeless group was issued clearance notices for their alleged by-law contraventions.

Returning to the site yesterday, officials say the group had not moved their belonging or left the area.

Fines of up R300 each were then dished out.

Meanwhile an urgent interim court interdict has been granted against City of Cape Town, barring them for using the by-laws for a planned mass eviction
