One Nation ZA an NPO started in February 2020 on the principle “let everything you do be done in love.”
The organisation is situated in Drakenstein (and covers Paarl, Wellington Simondium, Hermon, Gouda and Saron). The organisations endeavour is to facilitate change through assistance with skills development, personal growth and referring families to various institutions as required. The organisation also supports and assist with food and clothing to bide the communities over this difficult time.
It has become increasingly difficult to execute the organisations mandate as we are faced with COVID 19 epidemic. The organisation feeds a total of 2,500 – 3 000 community members per day, 5 days a week.
One Nation ZA also runs a sports program for the youth over the weekends to keep the youth active and off the streets. Sport is the answer to many challenges our youth are facing like gangsterism, drug and alcohol abuse. Sport keeps the youth busy and involved and gives them a sense of community. For the poor playing many sports is beyond reach. Not because they are not capable of playing but because of the costs involved in purchasing equipment and paying club membership fees etc.
Lunga spoke to Ronetia and Randy to get a greater insight of what the One Nation organisation is doing within the community and donated R10 000 towards meal preparations and sporting equipment as well as 1 600 Sanitary towels courtesy of IAMFORHER.
