LAVENDER 6 PROJECT

The Plumstead CAN group supports a feeding scheme in Lavender Hill called Lavender 6.

The scheme feeds in excess of 300 kids, 6 days a week and supplies them with hand sanitiser and other forms of PPE to protect them during this time.

The project commenced during Lockdown and has been running for 10 weeks.

As winter has hit, they would like to extend the feeding scheme to include adults and have food parcels delivered to homes to avoid kids walking out in the cold.

“THIS IS WHAT 16 DAYS FOR YOUTH IS ABOUT, PEOPLE FROM DIFFERENT COMMUNITIES AND CONTEXTS COMING TOGETHER TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER AND LEND A HELPING HAND.”

It’s so great to hear these stories of inspiration from our communities and as part of our 16 Days for Youth initiative, we want to make a small difference alongside our friends from McDonalds. We want to give the project R 5000 cash from McDonalds to keep this project alive.Â
