We’re only 5 days into 16 Days for Youth 2025, and thanks to our incredible partners, we’re making amazing progress!
You can help us create lasting change that uplifts the lives of the youth who desperately need it, sowing hope and possibility in communities across the Heartland!
I Can Academy – Parkwood
The I Can Academy, our core project, is a sanctuary for over 60 children in Parkwood—a community facing deep socio-economic challenges. But you can help create lasting change and give a generation the chance to make their greatest dreams a reality!
Progress so far:
The unsafe front structure has successfully been demolished. All tools and labour have been donated, and our partners have assessed the electrical, plumbing and building needs. A basic alarm system has donated and will be installed by a local security company in both the current and new structures.
We’ve completed the laying of the foundation slab, and planning is underway for the layout of the new building at the front of the Academy.
We’re also planning the kitchen, bathroom, office, and sleeping areas, thanks to our structural and electrical partners.
However, we need support to gather the necessary materials for the next phases of the build.
That includes:
- Ceiling Boards
- Paint
- Electrical Supplies
- Plumbing Fixtures
- Flooring
- Tiling materials
Why Help?
I Can Academy is more than a school. It’s a lifeline for children who face daily threats of violence, hunger, and instability. Through 16 Days for Youth, we’re not just building structures—we’re building futures.
There’s been some great news from our satellite projects after the first five days of work:
Tannie Magda’s Soup Kitchen – Paarl
We joined hands with the community to feed hundreds of people in need.
- Over 300 meals and sweet packs distributed.
- R40,000 donated—enough for Tannie Magda to purchase a desperately needed industrial food grater.
- 4 UV lights donated to improve hygiene and safety in the kitchen.
This support means faster food prep, safer conditions, and more meals for those who need them most.
Butterfly House – Paarl East
The response from our partners and listeners has been great.
- We’ve had donations of essential items: toiletries, socks, food, headsets, and painting supplies.
- A full bathroom refurbishment has been secured through a generous partner.
- R5,000 donated for:
- A portable speaker system for school assemblies.
- Supplies for the learner reward shop.
These contributions are helping to restore dignity, joy, and a sense of pride in the children who call Butterfly House their second home.
Be Part of the Change
We’ve made a strong start, but there’s still so much to do. Your support—whether through donations, time, or resources—can help us go even further.
Tomorrow we’ll be at Stepping Stones in District 6!
