Western Cape Health MEC, Dr Nomafrench Mbombo, says the vaccination programme in the province is going well.

Nationally, around 10 000 of the country’s health care workers have been vaccinated since the program kicked off last week.

Over the weekend, a number of staff including doctors and nurses from the private sector were given their shot at various hospitals, included Tygerberg and Groote Schuur.

Nearly 1,000 workers have been vaccinated in the Western Cape with those Johnson and Johnson dozes since Wednesday.

Of the first batch of 80 000 , the provincial health department received around 13,000 dozes of the vaccine.

During her visit at Groote Schuur yesterday, Mbombo appealed to health workers to register for the program.
