
Cape Town Police have arrested three people in connection with the murder of yet another police officer in Delft.
The 31-year-old off-duty Constable stationed in Gugulethu, was gunned down on Sunday.
It’s understood that a group of people hijacked his vehicle and killed him in Delius Street.
This is the second police killing in the Delft area in less than three weeks.
On the 22nd of June, Constable Shamielah Arendse was shot and killed at her Delft home.
The police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut says the suspects aged between 30 and 40 are facing charges of murder and hijacking.
“The 31 year old constable stationed at Gugulethu police station was gun down at around 03:30 in Delius Street, and robbed of his vehicle, a VW Touran. Our investigation led to the discovery of the vehicle in Elsies River in the morning and the subsequent arrest of the suspects, who are scheduled for a court appearance in Blue Downs, once they have been charged. DPCI detectives have been assigned to probe the circumstances surrounding this incident”.
