An off-duty Cape Town Law Enforcement officer has been shot and wounded in Hillview near Steenberg.
The incident occurred on Friday evening.
It’s understood that the officer and his friends had just left his home, and walked past a group of people in the street.
Shortly after, two shots were fired in their direction.
This is the third shooting incident where a Law Enforcement officer was either killed or wounded in just over a month.
Zamikhaya Kwinana was murdered while on patrol in Nyanga during the 8-day taxi strike a month ago, while a stray bullet killed off-duty officer Toufeeq Williams during a gang shootout in Mitchells Plain in August.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith said “We are very grateful that the officer survived, and will assist him and his family on his road to recovery. We are doing everything possible to assist SAPS in finding those responsible. However, we ask anyone with information about the incident to please report it to the City’s 24-hour tip-off line on 0800 11 00 77. The City will pay a reward for information that leads to a successful arrest and prosecution in this case”.
