The first day of the Joshlin Smith kidnapping and trafficking trial is under way in Saldanha Bay.
Little Joshlin disappeared more than a year ago.
Saldanha Bay residents have turned out in their numbers, eager to hear what the witnesses will say.
It’s also the first time in quite a few months, that Kelly Smith, Jaqcuen Appollis and Steveno Van Rhyn, are back in their hometown.
They’re in custody, as authorities believe they had a role to play in little Joshlin’s disappearance, on the 19th of February 2024.
And this is what needs to be proved in court.
It’s hoped that the evidence will also lead authorities to the little girl.
The trial is being heard at the Multipurpose Hall in Saldanha Bay to afford the community an opportunity to attend proceedings.
The child’s biological father, Jose Emke, is also in attendance.
