Western Cape Transport MEC Daylin Mitchell has condemned the killing of a taxi driver in Nyanga.

The 54-year-old man was shot dead near Borchards Quarry on Tuesday, by a person who had boarded his taxi.

The suspect fled the scene and is yet to be arrested.

Mitchell is appealing to anyone who might have information about the incident to contact the police.

“It is not yet known if the incident is taxi related. I condemn this incident in all its forms. The matter is being investigated by SAPS and the Department awaits the outcomes into whether the crime can be linked to taxi violence”.
