Western Cape farmers are being urged to stay sharp.

Fresh foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks were confirmed in parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.

Although THIS province is still free of the virus, vets are warning that it spreads fast—mainly through the movement of animals, especially at auctions.

The virus affects cattle and other cloven-hoofed animals, causing painful blisters, drooling, and lameness.

Even scarier, infected animals can look fine for up to two weeks but still spread it.
