The Department of Correctional Services has confirmed that convicted triple murderer, Henri van Breda, has been relocated to a Gauteng prison.
He had been placed in Paarl after being found guilty of killing his father, mother and brother.
He’s serving three life terms for killing the members of his family with an axe at their Stellenbosch home in 2015.
It’s understood that van Breda submitted a request in September 2021 to be moved to Gauteng, to be closer to his family.
The request was approved, and his relocation took place in January this year.
The department confirmed that van Breda was assaulted at the Paarl prison in October last year.
But spokesperson, Sechaba Mphahlele, disagrees this is the actual reason to move him.
