Refurbishments at the Plettenberg Airport are well underway.

The South African Civil Aviation Authority, suspended the airport’s operating license in August.

The CAA found that the airport’s operator failed to address repeat findings regarding structural deterioration of the airport runway.

Garden Route Aero manages the airport.

Currently, general aviation and private flights are going ahead.

But commercial flights remain suspended.

Garden Route Aero spokesperson, Deidre Davids, says this is an important step towards modernising the airport’s infrastructure..
