More lives have been lost, as another fire claimed the lives of two people in Khayelitsha.
This comes after residents from the Town Two informal settlement reported a fire in the area on Thursday morning.
When fire crews attended the scene, it was discovered that two informal structures took flame.
Jermaine Carelse, of the City’s Fire and Rescue services, says several others were also displaced.
“The bodies of a man and woman were discovered amongst the debris, whilst three others managed to escape. The cause of the fire is unknown and the scene was handed over to the South African Police Service.”
Just last month, five people – including two children – died in another Khayelitsha-based incident, when shack burned down in Site B.
The lives of another two young children were also lost last month, when a fire broke out at a home in Bishop Lavis.
