Cape Town Police have arrested two people in connection with the robbery at a Post Office in Eesteriver, on Tuesday.

It’s understood that a group of armed men entered the Post Office in Strand Road, demanding money.

Shortly after, police arrived and a shoot-out ensued between them and the suspects.

Two elderly victims aged 76 and 61, a 40-year-old man as well as a 30-year-old police officer were wounded in the shootout.

The police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says two suspects both aged 21 were arrested shortly after the robbery.

“The suspects were found in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash. We have opened cases of attempted murder, attack on police, as well as business robbery. The duo will appear in court once they’ve been charged”.
