Three men have been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Maitland, Cape Town.
The incident took place on Voortrekker Road on Tuesday morning.
The police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says the trio, in a grey Hyundai, fired numerous shots at another vehicle parked in the road, with an occupant inside.
Swartbooi says police caught one of the suspects throwing a gun in a nearby bin, when they arrived on the scene.
“The members of the Maitland Flying Squad approached the trio and searched the alleged shooter and confiscated ammunition found in his possession. Further inspection of the dirt bin, led to the recovery of a .22 pistol with ammunition. Three males, aged between 32 and 41 were arrested and detained as no one could provide a valid licence to be in possession of the mentioned firearm”.
