Western Cape Police say no arrests have been made in connection with a mass shooting in Khayelitsha, in Cape Town.

Three people were gunned down, while two others were wounded at a tavern in the Enkanini informal settlement, last week.

Mass murders appear to be common in that area.

In March 2022, six people including four men and two women were killed in that same informal settlement.

The police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut says the motive of last week’s shooting is yet to be determined.

“Serious and Violent Crimes detectives have been assigned to investigate the circumstances that led to the death of three people on Thursday in Harare,  during an incident where two others were wounded. The ages and identities of the victims are yet to be determined. Information at our disposal suggests that two unknown suspects opened fire at the victims at around 19:40 at a tavern in Enkanini informal settlement. The motive for the murders and attempted murders is still unknown while the suspects are being sought”.
