The National Student Financial Aid Scheme says while things are starting to look up, there are still significant problems when it comes to payments.
NSFAS is coming through a tumultuous time, where the scheme’s entire board was dissolved, and an administrator put in place.
Within seven months, there has been some stability under administrator Freeman Nomvalo.

Another issue that has been highlighted quite prominently is the lack of adequate communication from NSFAS.
Cape Town mother, Inshaaf Smith, says her family is out of pocket.
She reached out to Heart FM to raise her concerns.
She says, due to the lack of payments from NSFAS, they had to pay over 8-thousand Rand out of their own pockets.
And to make matters worse, she claims, they were not informed that they could be reimbursed…
