Residents living in two Mitchells Plain communities, in Cape Town are gripped by fear as a result of recent gang warfare.

Deadly shootings had been reported in Rocklands and Beacon Valley over the weekend.

Teenage boys – aged 15 and 17 – had allegedly been ambushed by unknown armed men who’ve yet to be arrested.

The Mitchells Plain Community Policing Forum’s, Norman Jantjies, says the two attacks are not linked.

But he is concerned that gang groupings continuously target youngsters.

He has reiterated that a multi-pronged approach is needed to tackle gangsterism.
