Taxi commuters in Cape Town should look for alternative transport on Thursday 24 March 2022, as CATA and CODETA go on strike.
Both associations have confirmed their participation.
The taxi associations will be marching to the office of Premier Alan Winde to present a set of grievances.
They’re not happy about the impoundments of their taxis, the requirements for releasing of impounded vehicles – which they’re calling “unfair” – and other issues affecting the industry.
Taxis will depart from Nyanga and Khayelitsha at 07h00, and a march will commence at 10h30 from District Six.
A memorandum will be submitted to the Premier’s office at 11h30.
Up to 2,000 taxi operators are expected to participate.
