Western Cape Police insist that the three of the five suspects, arrested in connection with Monday’s foiled cash-in-transit heist, should not have been freed.

The trio appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court, on Wednesday.

Magistrate Brendel Abrahams struck the matter off the court roll.

This, was after the lawyer for accused number 2,  Cassie Feni, successfully argued that his client’s appearance was illegal.

He’d highlighted that Feni, by law, should’ve appeared in court within 48 hours of his arrest on Monday the 5th of August.

While the argument had ONLY come from Feni’s lawyer, the court , nevertheless, ruled that all three be released as they’d been arrested around the same time.

Two others remain in hospital, following a shootout with police, which had resulted in the deaths of eight suspected criminals.

But, Western Cape Police Commissioner Thembisile Patekile says this is not the end of case.
