The heavy downpours have left hundreds of shack dwellers in Khayelitsha devastated.
Around 500 of them have since been moved to temporary accommodation to shelter them from the storm.
This follows a visit by Human Settlements Minister, Mmamaloko Kubayi, and officials from her department yesterday, to assess the damage caused by the storm.
