The South African Weather Service has issued warnings of increased risk along the Garden Route district due to anticipated strong winds in the coming days.

In specific areas, a Level 8 warning was issued, at the weekend, for gale force winds ranging from 80 to 90 km/h, affecting the City of Cape Town, Drakenstein, Stellenbosch, and the western Overberg region.

Additionally, a Level 4 warning, for winds ranging from 50 to 70 km/h in the Namakwa district, as well as the central and eastern parts of the Western Cape.

Wouter Kriel says they’re keeping a close eye on informal settlements around Cape Town.

Meanwhile, Premier Alan Winde is guarding against the spread of fake news as authorities work around the clock to mitigate the effects of the storm.
