South Africans will face Stage 6 rolling blackouts once again on Monday.
The ailing power utility Eskom, says due to ongoing generation capacity shortages , the power cuts will be implemented in various stages for the rest of the week.
Stage 4 remains in place until 16h00 on Monday.
Then Stage 6 kicks in from 16h00 through until 22h00, where the power cuts will then again be lowered to Stage 4.
Eskom had carried out Stage 6 rolling blackouts since last week, because of demonstrations by workers.
Spokesperson Sikhonathi Mantshantsha says it will take time for the service to return to normality.
“Eskom cautions the public that it will still take a few weeks for the power generation system to fully recover to pre-strike levels. Depending on several possibilities – including the workforce fully returning to work to conduct much-needed repairs to equipment – it is anticipated that loadshedding will gradually be lowered to Stage 2 by the weekend”.
