Eskom has announced that Stage 2 loadshedding will be in effect from Tuesday afternoon at 17:00.

The blackouts are set to last until Wednesday morning at 05:00.

This comes after the rolling power cuts were suspended at 05:00 on Tuesday morning.

The ailing power utility says this is due to the continued shortage of generation capacity.

“Eskom would like to inform the public that this constrained supply situation will persist throughout the week, with the possibility that more loadshedding is likely to be implemented should the generation capacity deteriorate further. Unit 5 of Medupi Power Station returned to service during the night. Three generating units at the Camden Power Station tripped during the night, contributing to the current shortage of capacity.”– Sikhonathi Mantshantsha, Eskom spokesperson
