Several UN Tourism Member countries are currently wrapping up the 67th UN Tourism Commission For Africa conference.
The CAF, as it’s known, had kicked off in Livingstone, Zambia, on Tuesday.
Under the theme “Promoting Africa to unlock tourism investments and the Sector’s growth potential”, the forum brings together all African heads of Tourism to discuss and map out plans to improve the sector.
It’s widely known that the tourism sector had been hardest hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
But, the industry is making a move in the right direction.
UN Tourism says arrivals were up five percent in the first quarter of 2024, when compared to pre-pandemic levels.
Deputy Tourism Minister, Maggie Sotyu, is in Livingstone.
She says they’ve focused on various issues, including the importance of strategic investment facilitation, development of the UN White Paper on tourism safety and tourism skills development.
