Slow down if you are driving along the roads in the south peninsula.
This is the plea from Toad Nut’s, an organisation working to preserve the Western Leopard Toad.
It’s an endangered species, only found along the south peninsula and Cape Agulhas.
The toads are heading into mating season which begins from the end of this month.
It usually lasts for about three months if conditions are right.
Toad Nut’s co-founder Suzie Phillips says a female Western Leopard toad can carry up to 10,000 eggs.
Not all of the eggs survive though, and Phillips and her team are hard at work trying to preserve the toads….
