Two suspects are behind bars in connection with a drive-by shooting in Heideveld.
Metro police officers were on patrol when they heard gunshots on Monday morning.
They spotted the suspects – who tried to flee – and gave chase.
“During the pursuit, the vehicle occupants threw a 9mm pistol from the window. The suspects collided with the patrol vehicle and came to a standstill. Officers arrested two suspects, aged 28 and 32, on charges of attempted murder, reckless and negligent driving, possession of an illegal firearm and possession of ammunition, and possession of a stolen vehicle. The suspects were detained at Manenberg SAPS.”

There’s been more gunfire than usual in the neighbouring Manenberg since last week, and that’s despite increased police presence there.
Another man was killed and six others were wounded in a drive-by shooting there over the weekend.
It’s understood that the victims were socialising in a parking area, when a car pulled up and the occupants shot at them.
“The 21-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were taken to a medical facility. The motive for the attack is yet to be established. The suspects are yet to be arrested. Cases of murder and attempted murder were registered for investigation.”
