The murder of a young boy in Elsies River, is still fresh on the minds of parents, who had to send their children off to school this morning.
14-year-old Jahmiel van Reenen, was walking with two fellow Ravensmead High School pupils, when shots rang out yesterday morning.
All three of them were shot, but van Reenen’s wounds were fatal.
A 55 year old man was also wounded during this shooting.

The Elsies River Community Policing Forum is calling for the declaration of a state of emergency, amid a surge in gang warfare.
A state of emergency, though, can only be declared by the President.
The CPF’s Imraahn Mukkaddam says this is the only way to deal with the problem…..
He explains what the community needs at this moment….
