Kleinvlei Police in Cape Town believe that their detective offices could be the target of arsonists.

On Sunday morning, three offices used by detectives in that part of Eerste River were damaged in a fire.

The police believe the fire was a deliberate attack.

An investigation is underway, and no arrests have been made at this stage.

The police confirmed that while many of the actual dockets were destroyed, they still possess electronic copies of them.

Spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi is appealing to anyone who might have information about the incident to please contact them.

“Kleinvlei police members detected smoke Sunday morning at around 01:15 at Kleinvlei saps. Upon inspection they noticed that the smoke emerged from the containers on the premises, utilized as offices for the detectives. The local fire brigade was arranged to extinguish the fire. Three offices with furniture has been damaged. No one sustained any injuries as a result of the fire”.
