The search for young Joslin Smith from Saldanha Bay, on the West Coast, enters its seventh day.

The young girl went missing last week Monday, while in the care of her mother’s boyfriend.

Police along with community members and various organisations, have been searching for her this past week.

Saldanha Bay Mayor, Andre Truter, says he approached the NAVY to join in the search operation.

Truter says he’s encouraged by the cooperation of people to find the young girl.

“On behalf of the Saldanha Bay Municipality, I can only say thank you to the officials as well. People who are working in the engineering department have been searching underground, searching drains, and helping to pump water out where needed. Never complained, never moaned, let’s do it. That seems to have been the motto of the town. Let’s do it, where do you want us to go? People come out in large numbers, not in their hundreds”.
