The treatment of the homeless in Cape Town continues to be a hot potato.

Deliberations between the SA Human Rights Commission, the Western Cape government and the City of Cape Town around this and other issues, continued today.

The number of homeless people has increased following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Additionally, the commission has received a large number of complaints related to the treatment of the homeless by law enforcement agencies.

Research officer Eugene Raphalane says it’s an issue that won’t be resolved overnight.
