Nuclear is here to stay.
That’s according to management at the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in Cape Town.
They say nuclear is a key component in the energy mix.
In fact, a new plant is currently being commissioned, and it will be located either in Duynefontein – which is a coastal site next to and just north of Koeberg – or in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape.
Several environmentalists have raised concerns about the funding of nuclear energy as the world steers towards green, renewable energy methods.
Koeberg station manager, Velaphi Ntuli says the plant is a good example of how to manage nuclear.
