Researchers are exploring whether Rooibos tea can help protect petrol attendants from harmful fuel fumes.

The National Institute for Occupational Health is studying its effects on oxidative stress and DNA damage, with final blood sample collection now underway.

Participants drink three cups of Rooibos daily, brewed for five minutes, while scientists track antioxidant levels in their blood.

The two-year study is currently in its first year.

Epidemiologist, Kerry Wilson, says the research could lead to a simple, affordable way to reduce health risks from long-term petrochemical exposure.
