South Africans will have to deal with rolling blackouts for at least another week.
This comes after Eskom’s management gave an update on the state of the current system challenges this morning.
Stage 4 of the schedule will be consistently in place this week, but Eskom hopes to reduce that to Stage 2 by Friday – and for the weekend.
Eskom’s Chief Executive Officer, Andre de Ruyter, says they are doing their best to return as much stability to the system.
De Ruyter says they are satisfied with their emergency reserves.
“We are sitting at 86% in our diesel tanks at Ankerlig, 100% at Gourikwa and our dams are essentially full – with only a couple of pumping hours remaining, in order to bring them to full capacity. From a reserves position, we are looking much strong than we did during the course of last week.”
