Parliament’s Justice portfolio committee has sent its condolences to the friends, family and colleagues of Advocate Rodney de Kock.

De Kock died yesterday, after being diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer last month.

At the time of his death, he was the National Deputy director of public prosecutions.

De Kock had a distinguished career in private practice, the training and mentoring of young legal practitioners – and in the management of the prosecutorial services.

He was also instrumental in the extradition of honeymoon murder accused, Shrien Dewani, from the UK.
