Saldanha Bay Mayor, Andre Truter, has put up a R25 000 reward for any information that will lead to finding the missing Joslin Smith.

It’s has been more than a week since the young girl was reported missing by her mother.

Joslin’s mother says she came back home last week Monday and could not find the child that she had left in her boyfriend’s care.

Police and community members have been searching tirelessly for the child.

Mayor Truter says he hopes this reward will help in finding Joslin.

“We had an R20 000 donation yesterday, and we also received an R5 000. We are processing that from the side of the municipality. We hope that will give some new emphasis in the search”.

Meanwhile, child advocacy group, Missing Children South Africa, has expressed shock by the misleading information shared about young Joslin.

Several messages circulated on social media stating that her body had been found.

Coordinator for Missing Children South Africa, Bianca van Aswegen is appealing to people to refrain from sharing false information.

“These posts have not been verified by the police and do have an influence on the investigation itself. It does put us on false information and leads that is much waste of time at this stage. We do ask people to refrain from sharing these posts, adding comments and starting to cause chaos. It’s a very difficult time for the family”.
