Western Cape Community Safety MEC, Reagan Allen, has reiterated that the investigation report that probed his predecessor, Albert Fritz, will not be released to the public.
This emerged when the department tabled its annual budget in the provincial legislature, on Friday.
The independent investigation probed the allegations of misconduct against Fritz, and his staff members.
Premier Alan Winde removed Fritz in March, after the allegations were found to have been credible.
Allen says they’re protecting the victims.
“The legal opinion was received by members of the Standing Committee [on Community Safety]; that legal opinion confirmed that that report cannot be tabled in this particular committee, because of the wishes of the whistleblowers. We are firmly doing everything in our power to ensure that gender-based violence is rooted out in the department.”
