Cape Town motorists will have to bite the proverbial bullet a bit longer.

City engineer’s will inspect the Lower Church Street bridge, near Woodstock, this morning.

The timeline for repairs will be established after the next phase of the assessment, but it’s safe to say that the bridge won’t be opened up any time soon.

Parts of the bridge are still inaccessible, after a truck rammed into the structure on Friday.

The incident left motorists seething in traffic as they made their way home to the northern suburbs on the N1 outbound.

Here’s Maxine Bezuidenhout from City traffic…

The truck driver appeared in court on Tuesday.

He faces a charge of reckless and negligent driving.
