President Cyril Ramaphosa has detailed Government’s response to State Capture so far – and promised there’s more to come.

He addressed the nation on Sunday to share his response to the recommendations of the State Capture Commission.

He said the Commission made 350 recommendations – including prosecutions, changes to laws, and strengthening anti-corruption bodies.

The President said many of these will be implemented.

That includes making the NPA’s Investigative Directorate a permanent body.

Also, a law that will make it a crime to not prevent bribery from happening.

He also pointed out that 165 people have already appeared in court in relation to State Capture.

Ramaphosa said corruption is a betrayal of the people, and a betrayal of democracy.

He warned that corrupt people will have nowhere to hide.

“The money that was stolen robbed our people of resources that should have led to the development of our country and improved livelihoods”.
