Western Cape Police Management believe they’re making progress in the fight against taxi-related murders in the province.
An alleged hitman was shot and killed following a shootout with the police in Wolseley, in the Cape Winelands on Thursday.
He was linked to a string of murders in Ceres, Wolseley and Citrusdal.
Another one was caught in KwaZulu Natal and is on his way back to the Western Cape to face murder charges.
Also on the same day, the police nabbed a gunman linked to triple murders in Khayelitsha and another one in Masiphumelele.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa says the suspect was arrested in Hanover Park.
“Members of the Provincial Taxi Task Unit’s Combat team in pursuit of vital information as part of their investigations into taxi related murders pounced on a location in Ocean View where they apprehended a wanted suspect on Thursday, 24 August 2023. The suspect is allegedly linked to a triple murder that occurred in Khayelitsha in December 2022. He is also charged for another murder that occurred in Masiphumelele in June 2023 as well as a house robbery in the same area of Ocean View. He is expected to appear in the Simon’s Town Magistrates Court on Monday, 28 August 2023 on the charges specified”.
